Unilever to list ice cream unit in Amsterdam, London, New York

Food to detergent giant Unilever said on Thursday that its ice cream arm will be listed in Amsterdam, London and New York and traded in all three cities.

The company said last year it planned to divest its ice cream activities before the end of 2025. The company will be incorporated in the Netherlands and continue to be headquartered in Amsterdam, Unilever said in Thursday’s statement.

Unilever said in March 2024 that the ice cream arm no longer fits in with company strategy to focus on “unmissably superior brands with strong positions in highly attractive categories”.

The ice cream unit has five of the world’s top 10 brands, including Ben & Jerry’s, Walls and Magnum, and booked sales of €8.3 billion in 2024.

Jean-Francois van Boxmeer, current chairman of Vodafone and chief executive of Heineken, has been appointed chairman designate of the ice cream business.
