A third Dutch national has died after a car overturned at high speed in the German city of Dusseldorf on Saturday.

The 53-year-old woman was one of four people in the Dutch-registered BMW when it drove at high speed across a traffic junction on Kennedydamm and rolled over several times. Police said the accident could be due to the driver becoming unwell and losing control of the vehicle.

The driver, who was killed instantly, was 60. A man, aged 53, died later in hospital. The condition of the fourth passenger is described as critical.

Another man who was waiting at a nearby bus stop was seriously injured by flying debris. A 69-year-old woman who was hit by the car while cycling has since been released from hospital.

Dusseldorf is some 50 metres from the Dutch border near Venlo. All four occupants of the car came from Gelderland, police have said.
