Emma and Noah top most popular names list for Dutch babies

Emma and Noah were the most popular names for new babies in the Netherlands last year, according to national insurance bank SVB.

In total, 922 boys were named Noah, placing it at the top of the list for the fifth year in a row. Emma, in fourth place in 2023, knocked Julia off the top of the girls’ list, with 657 mentions.

In total, 165,594 babies were born in the Netherlands last year: 84,990 boys and 80,604 girls.

Luca, Lucas, Liam, and Sem completed the boys’ top five, while Olivia, Nora, Julia, and Sophie rounded out the girls’ list.

The most gender-neutral name was Charlie, given to 156 boys and 156 girls last year.
