Music by Dutch artists earned €220 million outside the Netherlands last year, and that is a new record, according to performing rights society Buma Cultuur.

Dance as usual was the big money spinner, and there are plenty of new names in the line-up of big earners, Buma Cultuur said.

The top three DJs in terms of performances abroad are all new, overtaking established names such as Tiësto, Afrojack and Martin Garrix. Top of the list is 36-year-old house and techno DJ Franky Rizardo with 112 performances abroad. He is followed by Chris Stussy (30) and Mau P (28).

Other notable names on the list are the piano-playing brothers Lucas and Arthur Jussen, who are in 15th place with 71 performances, and violin player and orchestra leader André Rieu with 68 shows outside the Netherlands.

In total, net earnings are up 11% compared with last year, beating the previous record of €216 which was set in the pre-coronavirus period of 2018, Buma Cultuur said. The figures include performances and recordings as well as rights.
