House prices were up 11.2% in August, compared with August 2023 and that is the biggest increase in two years, national statistics office CBS said on Monday.

Month on month, the increase was 1.1%, the CBS said.

The figures come from transactions which have been completed and reported to the land registry office Kadaster, and therefore lag the statistics produced by estate agents’ organisation NVM. Those figures are based on deals done by its agents.

The number of transactions was up 12% on a year ago and takes the total number of deals agreed so far this year to almost 129,000.

The next NVM quarterly bulletin will be published in October
