Ajax move closer to Europa League with Akpom hat-trick
A hat-trick from Chuba Akpom propelled Ajax into a comfortable position after the first leg of the playoffs for a place in this year’s Europa League competition on Thursday evening.
The Amsterdammers won the match against Polish champions Jagiellonia Białystok 1-4, leading Akpom to say it was his best match wearing an Ajax shirt.
He was also full of praise for new trainer Francesco Farioli. “I love playing under him,” Akpom said. “I value his trust”.
Jagiellonia Białystok will be in Amsterdam for the second leg next week.
