The KNMI weather bureau has again issued a code yellow weather warning because of pending storms, this time for the south of the Netherlands.

It will be sunny over most of the country for much of the day with temperatures up to around 24°. However, storm clouds will start to gather in the south in the afternoon, bringing heavy rain, thunder and lightning in the late afternoon and early evening.

The cloudbursts, accompanied by winds of up to 70 kph, could also lead to flash flooding in places. The rain will move out to cover most of the country by evening, the KNMI said.

On Monday, very heavy rain and flash floods hit parts of Groningen and Friesland.

Wednesday too is likely to be wet, with plenty of rain and little sunshine, and temperatures no higher than 19°. There will be more sun as the week progresses, and it will become a little warmer, the KNMI said.
