The value of goods imported to the Netherlands from China has fallen for the first time in seven years, national statistics agency CBS said on Thursday.

In 2023, the Netherlands imported goods worth €104.3 billion from China, a drop of almost 17% on the previous year. In particular, the Dutch imported fewer computers, laptops and tablets, which are now more likely to come from Taiwan, the CBS said.

The import of Chinese cars, however, soared from  €100 million to €1.1 billion in the space of just one year.
