Arjen Lubach calls it quits on VPRO and Avondshow
Arjen Lubach is quitting broadcaster VPRO after the next season of the satirical news show De Avondshow.
“After three years, Arjen and his team will be doing one more season of the popular satiral news show. His plans for the future are as yet unknown,” the VPRO said.
Lubach, who shot to world fame with his Trump spoofing video “America first, the Netherlands second”, said he was thankful to the VPRO “for giving me the space to make satirical programmes,” he said.
The broadcaster has traditionally been home to innovative programme makers, such as Van Kooten en de Bie , Wim T. Schippers, and Arjan Ederveen and Tosca Niterink.
Lubach said he will not stop altogether but that it is time for “new adventures”’. “Making funny television shows is in my blood so the Netherlands is not rid of me yet,” he said.
