Saturday was the first official warm day of the year, with the temperature topping 23.5° at the De Bilt weather station near Utrecht, where weather records are set.

In some places in the south and east, the temperature rose above 25°, which is officially known as a regional summer’s day, weather bureau Weerplaza said.

This year’s first official “warm” day is relatively early, Weerplaza said. Last year the temperature did not rise above 20° in De Bilt until May 4.

The temperature will drop quickly in the evening, thanks to the strong sea breeze, and there could be localized thunderstorms overnight. Sunday will be slightly cooler with rain and sunny spells, and it will be similar well into next week.
