A chilly weekend for the time of year, and little change ahead

Friday’s rainy and blustery weather will abate somewhat, weather bureau Weeronline said, and Saturday will be a mixed bag of sunshine, showers and wind.

It will, however, be cold for the time of year, with a temperature of just 7° in the morning and reaching no more than 10° later in the day.

Sunday will be more of the same with showers particularly in the north and south of the country. The sun will show its face more often, and maximum temperatures will rise very slightly, to 11°.

However, hot water bottles should be at the ready because temperatures will fall to minus 1° on Sunday night in sheltered places, Weeronline said.

The KNMI’s long range forecast sees little change in the coming days but it may be a little warmer by Kings Day on April 27.
