A wet and windy weekend ahead, but it will be warmer next week

Hopes that spring is finally here can be put to one side for the coming weekend, with blustery weather and even thunderstorms forecast for Saturday.

The KNMI weather bureau sees temperatures no higher than 8° on Saturday and a similar situation on Sunday when there will also be plenty of rain and wind.

The sun will be back on Monday and Tuesday but it won’t be much warmer, at no more than 11°. Heading towards the Easter weekend, the temperature will creep up slightly but rain will also be back.

Next weekend will be a little warmer still and the temperature is likely to be several degrees above the seasonal average well into April, the KNMI said.

However, the weather will still be changeable, with sunny spells and showers, which may put a damper on Easter egg hunts.
