Frost and plenty of sunshine ahead as winter kicks in

The Netherlands is in for a spell of frosty weather with sunshine after the coming weekend, according to weather bureau KNMI.

While Saturday will be chilly with snow or sleet, Sunday will be dry and no warmer than 1° followed by a light overnight frost.

The freezing temperatures will continue for the next three days at least, with the temperature during the day remaining below zero. Tuesday and Wednesday in particular will have plenty of winter sunshine but the temperature could drop to around -8° overnight.

It will feel very cold in the light, northeasterly wind.

From next weekend, the weather will be more changeable, with a greater risk of wintry showers and snow. But there is an 80% chance temperatures will remain lower than the seasonal average up to the middle of the month, the KNMI said.
