A goal in the dying moments of the game ended amateur side Hercules’ adventure in the KNVB Cup, when first division team Cambuur made it 3-4 in extra time.

Hercules, who put Ajax out of the competition in the second round, were leading 2-0 at one point but gave it away in the second half. The club is currently in 11th place in the third division.

Cambuur, from Leeuwarden, will now meet Vitesse on February 7 in the quarter finals. Vitesse put out Amsterdamsche, the only other amateur side still in the competition, with a 1-0 win earlier in the week.

On Wednesday night, Feyenoord eliminated league leaders PSV Eindhoven 1-0, and they will meet AZ on February 7. Fortuna Sittard will meet Groningen on February 8 and NEC will take on ADO Den Haag on February 6.
