Fast fashion brand Zara has opened its biggest store in the world on the Coolsingel in Rotterdam, according to Dutch media reports. The shop in the former C&A building, runs over five floors and covers 9,000 square metres. It carries the complete Zara range, from cosmetics to sportswear and homeware.

The move is part of parent company Inditex’s strategy to cut costs by increasing the size of stores and cutting back on their number, the Financial Times reported earlier.

Worldwide, the company has 5,745 stores, down 625 on a year ago. For example, stores have recently gone in Apeldoorn and Amersfoort, the AD said earlier this week.

Inditex is also owner of the Pull & Bear, Massimo Dutti, Bershka and Stradivarius brand names.

Dutch News has contacted the company to find out if the branch really is the biggest in the world.
