The Ajax women’s football team kicked off their Champions League campaign with a “stunning” 2-0 home win over top club Paris Saint Germain.
The Ajax women are playing at this level for the first time and the win at the Johan Cruijff stadium made it an “unforgettable evening”, said Tiny Hoekstra, who opened the scoring after 30 minutes. Captain Sherida Spitze scored the second from a penalty shortly before the break.
The win puts the Dutch women top in the league in Group C after Bayern Munich and Roma drew 2-2. Paris Saint-German are two times runners up for the trophy.
Ajax will next meet Roma away on November 23.
