The Netherlands may top the good weather league this weekend

The Netherlands is likely to be the sunniest and warmest place in Europe this weekend, with the temperature on target to top 30° in the south, according to weather forecasters.

“This weekend we’ve got Costa del Sol weather,” NOS weatherman Peter Kuipers Munneke said. “In fact, we will have the sunshine, but in southern Spain it may very well be cloudy.”

Germany, Belgium, Luxemburg and northern parts of France will also be sunny and warm over the next few days.

As yet, weather forecasters can’t say with any certainty if it will remain warm after the weekend because much depends on the area of high pressure over Scandinavia.

The KNMI weather bureau says there is a chance of storms on Sunday and there could be light showers next week. Nevertheless, there is a 70% chance of the sunny, warm weather continuing well into June, the KNMI says in its long-range forecast.
