More people worried about their financial future: CBS
The number of adults who are worried about their financial future has increased significantly for the first time in a decade, new figures from national statistics agency CBS have shown.
Three in 10 adults reported money worries in the last year, particularly those between 18 and 25, the CBS said. In 2021, almost 23% said they were concerned about their finances, the lowest figure since records began 10 years ago.
The figure was highest among the under-25s, with 36% of young adults saying they are worried about money.
Single parent and low-income households are also insecure about their long-term financial outlook. Some 20% of higher income groups said they were worried, just half compared to those who are less well off.
The war in Ukraine and rising inflation are the main drivers for the uncertainty, the CBS said.
