The Easter weekend is set to be warm with some sunshine, despite a gloomy start on Friday, weather forecasters say.

The best of the weather will be on Saturday when there will be plenty of sunshine in between the cloud, and it will remain dry.

Easter egg hunts can go ahead outdoors on Sunday, when it will be mainly overcast with temperatures in the mid teens. There may be some sunshine in the south.

Monday, a public holiday, will be warmer, at up to 17 Celsius in the south, although there may be some showers mixed in with the sunshine later in the day.

The rest of the week will be a similar mix of cloud and sunny spells, but it will be a little cooler than on Monday.
