Winter is back with a vengeance this week with sleet and wet snow forecast for the next four days, and freezing temperatures at night.

The KMNI weather bureau issued a code yellow weather warning for Limburg and the south on Tuesday, saying snow in the afternoon could stick in the high ground and hills.

The picture is similar on Wednesday and Thursday and the temperature will be no higher than 4 or 5 Celsius during the day. At night there will be light frosts over most of the country.

By Friday it will be warmer and the sleet will turn to rain. Next weekend too will be above 10 Celsius during the day, but with rain and only a 20% chance of any sunshine.

The KNMI’s long range forecast is for more of the same in the coming period, but a 60% chance of more chilly temperatures in the second half of the month.
