Trainee daycare worker sacked for uploading toddler Tiktok videos
A trainee daycare worker has been sacked on the spot after placing videos of the children in her care on social media TikTok and Snapchat.
The 19-year-old uploaded the videos in which children could be easily identified without requesting permission, the AD reported. Daycare workers are banned from filming the children in their care.
In one video two toddlers were shown lying down with the accompanying text ‘they start early’. She also uploaded films of children crying, peeing on a toilet and one having its nappy changed.
The videos, made at a Kindergarden daycare centre in Amsterdam, were spotted online by a parent who warned the centre immediately. An initial police investigation has not uncovered any criminal offences, the AD reported on Tuesday.
‘Let us be clear, this behaviour is unacceptable,’ Nicole Krabbenborg, direct of the Kindergarden group, told the paper. The trainee was being supervised by a staff member with 21 years experience who was not aware what was going on, Krabbenborg said.
The girl in question has now been receiving threats from all over the country, Krabbenborg said. ‘This girl has made a serious mistake and she is well aware of this, but she is not a criminal or a sex offender.’
The daycare centre is organising an information evening for parents.
