Max and Luna are once again the most popular names for Dutch dogs, with Max overtaking Luna to top the list this year.

Pip, Bella and Bo complete the top five in the ranking, compiled by pet insurance company Petplan.

The researchers also came up with a list of somewhat strange names for a four-footer, including Gucci, Cheeseburger, Vamos A La Playa and Coco Chanel.

Luna is also the most popular name for Dutch cats, Petplan said, while Max is in second place for male cats behind Simba.

Belusconi, Crypto and Lucifer were among the stranger names that owners have given their feline companions this year.

The names are also popular among humans. Luna was also in 30th place in the Social Insurance Bank’s list of girl’s baby names in 2021, while Max was in 20th place on the boy’s list.
