Emma, Noah and Sam top the list of most popular baby names
Emma is once again the most popular name for a baby girl in the Netherlands, taking back the top spot from Julia, which won in 2021.
Noah remains top of the list for boys for the fourth year, while Sam is the most popular gender-neutral name, the Social Insurance Bank (SVB) said on Thursday.
The SVB compiles the rankings from new requests for child benefits.
In total, 677 baby girls were named Emma last year and 871 boys were called Noah. Mila completes the girl’s top three while Liam and Luca are in second and third place in the boy’s list.
The SVB’s gender neutral ranking is topped by Sam, Isa and Bo, with Bowie in 10th place. In total 115 girls and 73 boys were named after the musician who died in 2016.
