Skywatchers in most of the Netherlands were able to view a partial eclipse of the sun this lunchtime, in between the clouds.

The moon passed between the earth and the sun, biting a chunk out of the sun’s upper left side between 11am and 1pm. The eclipse was best viewed around midday when 22% of the sun’s surface was hidden.

The next partial eclipse in the Netherlands will be in March 2025 and the next full eclipse in 2135.
