A 2-2 away draw against Glasgow Rangers has kept alive PSV Eindhoven’s hopes of taking part in this year’s Champions League competition.

The game was a ‘rollercoaster ride from start to finish, as befitted such a high-stake encounter,’ the Uefa website said in its match report.

Rangers had thought they would be taking a slender lead to Eindhoven but PSV came back when Armando Obispo, who rose unchallenged in the box, headed home the equalizer in the 78th minute.

‘We had to change a couple of things at half-time,’ PSV coach Ruud van Nistelrooy told BT Sport after the game. ‘Both teams are so balanced – hopefully our fans can lift us that little bit [in the second leg].’

The home leg, which will decide which of the two teams will make the Champions Leagure group stage along with Ajax, will be played next week.
