Midfielder Jackie Groenen is expected to play in the Netherlands’ final Euro group match against Switzerland on Sunday after recovering from a coronavirus infection.

The Manchester United star had to miss Wednesday’s 3-2 win against Portugal after testing positive, but was back in training on Friday after a negative test.

Striker Vivianne Miedema’s status is uncertain after she also tested positive on the eve of Wednesday’s game. The Dutch management has since tightened its contact rules after squad members were allowed to meet friends and family after their opening game against Sweden last Saturday.

The Dutch will also hope defender Aniek Nouwen is fit after injuring her ankle against Sweden.

Nouwen returned to training on Thursday, but first-choice goalkeeper Sari van Veenendaal has still not trained since suffering a shoulder injury in the same game.

The Lionesses need a point against Switzerland to qualify for the knock-out stages of the tournament in England.
