A 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital on Monday after jumping from a second-story window to escape police.

A police spokesman said the youth lost consciousness when he fled the apartment in Bijlmer-Oost as officers tried to arrest him at 6am.

An air ambulance and defibrillator team were sent to the scene, but were not required. The youth regained consciousness and was taken by regular ambulance to hospital.

Police would not disclose why they wanted to detain the youth, but a spokesman said: ‘It wasn’t a case of jaywalking.’
