Fewer people admitted to hospital with coronavirus, week on week drop of 40%
The number of people being admitted to hospital with coronavirus continues to fall, public health institute RIVM said on Tuesday in its latest weekly update.
In the week to Tuesday morning, 315 people were admitted to hospital with the virus, a drop of 40% on the previous week. Last week, 30 people were put into an intensive care ward with Covid, compared with 50 in the previous week.
The new figures also illustrate how far fewer people are having a test at a regional health board centre since the advice to do so was scrapped. In the week of March 21, over 330,000 people had a health board test, but a month later that had fallen to just 25,000.
The percentage of positive tests at a GGD centre has also gone down, from 62.4% to 55%.
Officials are now monitoring the spread of the virus using waste water analysis. That shows that while there has been an increase in infections in some areas, in most places there is either no change, or a decline in infections.
