The board of fledgling political party Volt has again voted to expel MP Nilüfer Gündoğan from the party, following reports that she had shown abusive behaviour towards a fellow MP and several staff members.

Earlier this month, judges said that a previous attempt to expel the MP from the party after a string of allegations about her behaviour, was invalid. The court also awarded Gündoğan €5,000 in damages.

However, the party has opted to press ahead with the expulsion because Gündoğan refused to withdraw libel claims against the party. The complaints against her are still being investigated.

Gündoğan has previously said she will continue as an MP whether or not she is a member of Volt. Her decision takes the number of political factions in parliament to 20, of which five are now represented by independent MPs.
