The number of coronavirus patients being treated in intensive care has fallen below 200 for the first time since October, the public health agency RIVM reported on Thursday.

In the last 24 hours 13 new patients were recorded in intensive care units, while the total number was 198, eight fewer than on Wednesday. The figure is also 9% lower than a week ago.

The number of patients in hospital with Covid-19 infections also fell by 18 to 1,531, but this figure is 9% higher than a week ago. In the last week 193 coronavirus patients were admitted per day, the highest level since December 21.

The RIVM recorded another 86,862 positive in the last 24 hours, with just under 60% of all tests in the last week confirming an infection. The daily figure is 4.8% higher than a week ago.
