More than 600 coronavirus patients in hospital after biggest rise since April
The number of patients in hospital with Covid-19 jumped by 57 on Monday, the biggest rise in a single day since April 29.
A total of 610 people are currently being treated for coronavirus infections, representing a 22.7% increase since in the last seven days. The number in intensive care went up by four to 146.
The public health agency RIVM reported another 3,398 positive tests on Monday, while the seven-day average figure has doubled in the last week to 3,534.
In the last week an average of six deaths from Covid-19 a day have been recorded, up from four a day a week ago.
The Netherlands currently has one of the fastest growing coronavirus infection rates in Europe, with 203 new cases per 100,000 people per day.
