Coronavirus tests keep rising slowly, positive rate declines

Another 2,821 positive coronavirus tests were recorded in the past 24 hours by the public health agency RIVM, in line with the marginally growing trend since mid-August.

Total cases have risen by 2.2% in the last seven days, but the percentage of positive tests has contracted to 12.1% from 14.2% a week ago.

The number of people being treated in hospital for coronavirus increased by eight to 651 on Thursday, of whom 207 are in intensive care, two more than Wednesday.

In the last week the RIVM has recorded an average of five deaths a day from Covid-19, compared to seven a week ago.
