Hospital coronavirus cases fall below 2,000 for first time in two months
The number of coronavirus patients being treated in hospital has dipped below 2,000 for the first time since March 17, according to new figures from patient coordination centre LCPS.
In total, 1,899 people are now being treated in hospital for coronavirus, down 103 on Wednesday. Of them 621 are in an intensive care ward, and that is a drop of 26 on Wednesday’s figure as well.
Public health institute RIVM said it had been notified of 4,688 new coronavirus cases in the 24 hours to Thursday 10am, which is up 107 on Wednesday. However, Wednesday and Thursday tend to report more cases than the rest of the week because of the weekend time lag.
The number of positive tests is down 29% this week, compared with the previous seven day period.
The RIVM also said that 7.8 million vaccine doses have now been administered in the Netherlands. The figure is an estimate and includes both first and second doses.
