The expiry date for vouchers for holidays and other travel is to be extended by two months because of delays in setting up a fund to help tour operators pay back the money, the travel industry’s guarantee fund SGR has told website Nu.nl.

The first vouchers are due to expire on March 17, but Brussels has not yet approved the Dutch government’s plan, and some tour operators, such as Corendon, say they cannot meet the bill.

In total, tour operators and travel agents have issued vouchers to the value of €600m.
