Amsterdam football club Ajax move into the quarter finals of this year’s Europa League competition with a ‘comfortable’ win over Swiss side BSC Young Boys in Bern on Thursday night.

Ajax’ 2-0 victory came on top of their 3-0 home win last week. David Neres and captain Dusan Tadic scored the goals.

‘Had Young Boys taken one of their early chances this could have been a different game and perhaps even a different tie,’ Uefa reporter Daniel Thacker said.

‘As it was, Neres’ first-half finish essentially settled the tie… Ajax march on to another European quarter-final and maintain their fantastic form this calendar year.’

Ajax will mean AS Roma in the quarter finals. The first leg will be played on April 8 with the return leg a week later. Should Ajax beat the Italian number six, they will meet Granada or Manchester United in the semi-finals.
