New coronavirus cases lowest in 8 weeks, more patients in hospital
The number of coronavirus cases in the Netherlands has fallen to its lowest level since December 1, according to new figures from the public health agency RIVM.
Another 4,129 infections were recorded by the network of health boards (GGD) by 10am, the third smallest daily total since the figure first passed the 4,000 mark on October 4.
However, the number of Covid-19 hospital patients increased by 37 to 2,384, while 664 people are being treated in intensive care, a decrease of 16 from Sunday. Both numbers are at around the same level as they were a week ago.
The RIVM also recorded another 40 people as having died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours, though some deaths are not reported for several weeks. In the last week an average of 76 deaths have been added to the total, which now stands at 13,580.
