Company bosses across the board are more optimistic about their firms’ chances of surviving the coronavirus crisis, according to new figures from national statistics agency CBS.

The real estate sector is most optimistic, with 78% of companies expecting to be around in a year’s time. By contrast, just 43% of companies in the hospitality industry expect to survive, although this is up sharply on the 25% expected survival rate recorded in June.

The figures do show that companies are using fewer people on flexible contracts and freelancers. In the sport, culture and recreation sector, for example, the use of flexible contracts and freelancers has gone down by 60%.
