There are now 60,000 electric car charging stations spread out over the Netherlands, according to official government figures.

The total includes 1,463 super fast charging points, the figures show. Most charging stations are in Zuid-Holland province, followed by Noord-Holland and Noord-Brabant.

Electric cars and hybrids accounted for one in five new car registrations in August, with the Tesla 3 leading the way.

In July,  the government and local authorities announced they would spend a total of €30m to create a comprehensive national network of charging points to promote a wider use of electric cars.
