It is not yet autumn in the Netherlands – we may have an Indian summer ahead

Autumn may officially begin in two weeks, but there is some hope that we may have a short Indian summer before then, weather forecasters say.

Thursday will be around 20 Celsius with plenty of sunshine and no wind, making it the nicest day of the week so far. That picture is set to continue over the weekend, according to the KNMI weather bureau, which is currently forecasting blazing sunshine and temperatures of up to 27 Celsius in the south on Monday.

There is a 70-80% chance that the first half of next week will be warm and sunny, the KNMI says in its long range forecast.

Weerplaza and Weeronline also see a warmer weekend and first half of next week ahead, with Weeronline saying temperatures are likely to be well above average on Monday and Tuesday at least.

After that, rain and cooler temperatures become more likely, Weeronline said.
