Heatwave continues, but thunderstorms are increasingly likely
Temperatures of around 35 Celsius will continue to dominate in the Netherlands in the coming three days, but thunderstorms are increasingly likely, particularly in the south.
The KNMI weather bureau, which has a code orange weather warning in place for the four southern provinces, says cloud will begin to gather nationwide in the afternoon. Later on and into the evening, there may be storms in the south and central parts of the country, with strong winds and hail, the KNMI said.
Tuesday’s temperature will range from 29 Celsius on the Wadden Islands to 35 Celsius in the south and east.
By Friday the temperature will drop to the high 20s, bringing more cloud and rain, particularly at the weekend. The mixed picture – sunshine and showers – will continue well into the second half of the month, the KNMI said.
