Heatwave ahead: tropical temperatures set to return this week
Monday and Tuesday may be cooler than of late, with some rain possible in the west, but summer will return to the Netherlands by Wednesday, the KNMI weather bureau said.
Temperatures will reach a tropical 30 Celsius by Thursday, and it could be as warm as 35 Celsius in the south at the weekend.
Little change is on the cards heading into next week, although there may be thunderstorms at times, the KNMI said in its long range forecast.
Last Thursday, local officials were forced to close roads after thousands of people headed for the beach when the temperature topped 30 Celsius.
