The Netherland’s longest running hit musical Soldier of Orange is set to be return to the stage on September 2 but with only 30% of its normal capacity.

The venue, a former aircraft hangar in Katwijk, holds 1,100 people but rows of chairs have been removed, cutting the audience size to around 300.

Over 70,000 people had bought tickets for the show when it was closed down in March. They were given vouchers and have between August 5 and August 9 to choose a new date. Regular ticket sales will begin again from August 10.

Soldier of Orange, about the war time exploits of resistance fighter Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema, premiered in 2010 and has been performed almost 3,000 times to sold-out audiences. Some three million tickets have been sold so far.

A British version is due to open in London later this year.
