The body of the missing 14-year-old German girl has been found in the North Sea north of Ameland, reports NOS.

The girl went missing last Saturday in the sea when she went into the water to watch the sunset with her sister, during a weekend of dangerous undercurrents.

Her father tried to recue her in vain, reports NOS, and search teams and sailing boats have been searching for her body all week.

The Friesian police force announced on social media that a body was found on Friday afternoon but the girl’s identity was not confirmed until later.
