Six more deaths from coronavirus have been reported in the Netherlands, bringing the official total to 6,065.

Latest figures from the public health agency RIVM also show that three more people were admitted to hospital with Covid-19. Hospital admissions have been in single figures for the last 10 days in a row.

Another 165 people tested positive for the disease, bringing the total so far to 48,948. In the second week of June more than 55,000 tests were carried out, of which 1.6% were positive.

Testing capacity was expanded at the start of the month to allow anyone with suspected symptoms to be tested, leading to a 75% increase in the number of tests carried out.

More than 78% of all infections were in the most populous provinces of Noord-Holland, Zuid-Holland, Noord-Brabant and Gelderland, which are home to 65% of the Dutch population.
