Dutch official coronavirus death toll tops 6,000, as first dashboard is published
The official Dutch coronavirus death toll topped 6,000 on Friday, as 15 new cases were reported to the public health institute RIVM. This means 6,005 people have now officially died of the virus, although the real total is likely to be considerably higher.
A further 210 people tested positive and 11 new patients were admitted to hospital, the RIVM said in its daily update.
Meanwhile, the health ministry has published its first version of a coronavirus ‘dashboard’ which aims to give an overview of the situation in a given area.
The information contained in the dashboard, which will be largely public, ‘will signal if we have to intervene locally or regionally,’ health minister Hugo de Jonge said last month.
