The number of coronavirus hospital admissions rose by 44 to 10,995 on Sunday while the official death toll rose by 69 to 5,056, the public health institute RIVM said in its latest update.

The figures do not reflect the reality of the last 24 hours because of time lags in reporting, the RIVM said. Nevertheless, the figures do emphasise the continual downward trend and the number of hospital admissions is the lowest for six weeks.

A further 335 people have tested positive for the virus, taking the total to 40,571.
