Dutch official coronavirus death toll has risen by 86, officials said on Monday
The Dutch official coronavirus death toll rose by 86 overnight, according to the Monday update from the public health institute RIVM.
This takes the official number of people who have died from coronavirus to 2,823, the RIVM said. The real total is likely to be far higher and figures from national statistics institute CBS suggest that thousands more people may have died since the pandemic hit the southern province of Noord-Brabant.
A further 147 people have been hospitalised, taking the total number of people who are or who have been treated in hospital to 8,729. The RIVM does not publish figures showing how many people have been discharged.
The number of people testing positive for coronavirus rose by 964 to 26,551. The Netherlands is in the processing of expanding the number of people eligible for tests to include all healthcare workers.
