Tractors will have to have be registered, with number plates, MPs say

MPs are poised to vote in favour of a motion that would require tractors to have number plates, in the wake of the recent farmers protests.
Hundreds of farmers used their vehicles to block roads during the protests, but police said they were powerless to issue fines because the tractors were untraceable.
‘If you want to use a moped on the roads, you need a number plate, but not if you drive a tractor,’ D66 parliamentarian Matthijs Sienot said. ‘And a number plate is necessary if you want to be able to fine farmers who break the law.’
Farmers will be given five years to get their vehicle licencing in order. The new rules will not come into effect until 2025, broadcaster RTL reported.
