KLM resumes flights over Iran and Iraq after aviation safety scan
Dutch flag carrier KLM said on Thursday it had resumed flying over Iran and Iraq following an analysis of advice from both government ministries and the security services.
KLM halted flights over the Middle Eastern countries following the downing of a Ukrainian passenger plane by Iran shortly after takeoff from Teheran at the beginning of January.
British and German airlines have also resumed flights over the two countries. KLM does not fly to either Teheran or Baghdad.
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) said on January 16 that flying over Iran is safe, provided planes were higher than 25,000 feet.
