Budget textiles group Zeeman to close Dutch stores but is opening them in Spain
High street budget clothing and textiles store Zeeman expects to close up to 70 shops in the Netherlands over the next five years, director Erik-Jan Mares has told news agency ANP.
The closures are part of a long-term strategy to cope with changing patterns in the way people shop and 30 stores have already closed, company said. New shops may also be opened.
Zeeman has more than 1,300 outlets in seven different countries, including 502 in the Netherlands. It recently opened its 50th shop in Spain.
Last year the company’s sales rose 4% to €609m while net profit rose to almost €13m.
